Riverbed Storytellers Contest

To enter:  NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN this Riverbed Storytellers Contest (“Contest”).  Periodically, we will select and post a theme or topic (e.g. Disaster Recovery, troubleshooting, etc.).  To enter the Contest, write and submit a short story or anecdote that is related to the theme or topic about how your Riverbed products (Steelhead appliances, Cascade appliances, CMC, Interceptor, Steelhead Mobile, Cascade Pilot, Virtual Steelhead, Cloud Steelhead, Whitewater, etc.) have improved application performance, made employees happier, achieved return on investment or in some other way helped to improve network connectivity and access.  Entrants are encouraged but not required to include screenshots or other graphics to support their story.  An eligible entry must also include a descriptive title, your name, the name of your company, your e-mail address and your shipping address.  Any lost, misdirected, incorrect or incomplete entries will be disqualified and Riverbed Technology, Inc. (“Company”) and its affiliates and agents will not be responsible for such entries.

Eligibility: This Contest is open only to legal residents of the United States age 18 or over.  Employees of Company and its affiliates and members of their immediate families are ineligible to participate. To be eligible, you must agree to abide by these rules and be bound by all Company decisions relating to this contest, which are final and binding in all respects, including but not limited to Company’s determination of the winners. There is a limit of one eligible entry per company per calendar month. Once a company has won the Contest in a particular month, any subsequent entry by the same company will be deemed ineligible.  It is your sole responsibility to review and understand your employer’s policies regarding your eligibility to participate in trade promotions.  If you are participating in violation of your employer’s policies, you may be disqualified from entering or receiving prizes.  Company disclaims any and all liability or responsibility for disputes arising between an employee and their employer related to this matter, and prizes will only be awarded in compliance with the employer’s policies.  Government employees are not eligible. 

Prizes: We will award one (1) grand prize each month.  The prize shall be a iPod Nano Wrist Watch (approximate retail value US$200).  In addition, all eligible entries will receive a Riverbed multi-tool, only while supplies last.  Each winner is responsible for the payment of all taxes associated with the receipt of any prize. No substitution or transfer of prizes permitted, except that if any prize is unavailable, Company has the right to substitute a prize of substantially equal value. Prizes may not be redeemed for cash.

Winner Selection: The winning entry each month will be selected by Company at 5:00 p.m. (PST) on the last business day of each calendar month(each, a “Selection Day”). The decision of the Company is final. The criteria that the Company will use to select the entry is the entry with the highest cumulative number of votes (“kudos”) cast by Riverbed Community Forum members at the end of the applicable Selection Day.  Company will notify the winner by sending a message to the e-mail or shipping address provided at time of entry within seven (7) days following the Selection Day.  If the notification Company sends to the winner is returned as undeliverable, the winner is unreachable for any reason, or the winner is otherwise unable to accept the prize, Company will automatically disqualify the winner and will deem the entry with the next-highest number of votes the winner. Winners agree to release Company from any and all liability associated with this contest.  Winners may be required to sign an Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability/Publicity Release, and any other documents required by Company or tax authorities within seven (7) calendar days of notification of selection.  If a winner does not complete the required forms within the seven (7) calendar day period, Company will disqualify the winner and deem the entry with the next-highest number of votes the winner. In the event of a dispute regarding who submitted an online entry, the entry will be deemed submitted by the authorized account holder of the email account submitted.  Prizes will only be awarded to a winner if he/she complies with these rules.

List of Winners: The list of winners will be available on the Riverbed Community Forum.  Entrants may also request a list of winners by e-mailing a request to Company, Attn: bgilbert@riverbed.com.

Grant of Rights:  By participating in the Contest, each entrant grants and agrees to grant to Company and its affiliates the right to use the entry in their sole discretion, without further compensation or consent.

Privacy and Use of Information:  Company collects personal information from you when you enter the Contest.  Please review Company’s privacy policy at http://www.riverbed.com/us/privacy_policy.php before you enter the Contest.  By participating in the Contest, you agree for Company to collect and use your personal information solely in connection with the Contest.

Limitations of Liability: Company is not responsible for technical, hardware or software failures of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections, or failed, incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmissions, whether caused by Company, or you or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in association with this contest or by any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of submissions that may limit an entrants ability to participate in this contest. BY ACCEPTING DELIVERY OF THE PRIZE, WINNERS AGREE THAT THE PRIZE IS AWARDED ON THE CONDITION THAT COMPANY AND ITS AFFILIATES, SUBSIDIARIES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, AGENTS, REPRESENTATIVES AND EMPLOYEES WILL HAVE NO LIABILITY WHATSOEVER FOR ANY INJURIES, LOSSES, OR DAMAGES OF ANY KIND RESULTING FROM ACCEPTANCE, POSSESSION OR USE OF THE PRIZE. Winners further acknowledge that the foregoing parties have neither made nor are in any manner responsible or liable for any warranty, representation or guarantee (express or implied, in fact or in law) in connection with the prize or the use or enjoyment of the prize. ALL PRIZES ARE AWARDED "AS IS" AND WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY OF ANY SORT, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. IF THE MANUFACTURER OF THE PRIZE OFFERS A WARRANTY IT WILL BE PARTICIPANT'S RESPONSIBILITY TO SEEK WARRANTY SERVICE DIRECTLY FROM THE MANUFACTURER.

General Conditions: If any provision of this Official Contest Rules is held to be illegal or unenforceable, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that these rules shall otherwise remain in full force and effect and enforceable to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law. Company reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the contest or to be acting in violation of these rules. If Company determines, in its sole discretion, that the contest is compromised by virus, bug, robot entries, or other corruption of the administration, security or proper play of the contest, then, at its sole discretion, Company can cancel this contest. In the event of any non-compliance with any requirement stated herein, a winner’s prize may be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner. This contest is governed by and shall be construed under the laws of the State of California, U.S.A., without regard to the conflicts of law provisions therein. The prize will only be sent to a U.S. address, and will be subject to all applicable U.S. taxes and withholding. This contest is void where prohibited or restricted by any relevant federal, state or local law, including but not limited to jurisdictions with laws that would require registration, disclosure, filing, trust account, or posting of a bond, or any other requirements that are not satisfied.
