Re: wccp, 61 and 62 service groups

Hi Max,

61 and 62 WCCP service groups certainly can be used with the Steelheads.  For our customers migrating from WAAS to Riverbed Steelheads, they find they can use the exact same WCCP configuration on their routers that they previously used for WAAS.  This makes the migration process much easier when you don't have to tweak or change the WCCP configuration on the router.

If someone is deploying Steelhead without a prior WCCP configuration on the router, then it's strictly up to you if you want to use 61 and 62, or create your own WCCP service group.  It really does not matter to the Steelheads.  Actually, most customers choose not to use WCCP at all and go with an in-path configuration.

wccp, 61 and 62 service groups

Hi,

could you please explain why using 61 and 62 wccp service groups is recommended in deployment guide. As I understood from Cisco manuals, it is required only for load balancing: 61 to load balance based on source IP, 62 to load balance based on destination IP. "This is the WCCPv2 feature that allows WAAS to handle optimized traffic transparently". Does it matter to Steelheads? In the same Steelhead Deployment Guide, a lot of working examples with service group 90 can be found.

Thanks.
